1. Shut Off Main Water
Locate your home's main shutoff valve (usually where the water line enters the foundation or in the meter box by the curb) and turn the lever clockwise 90 degrees.
2. Depressurize the System
Open your lowest outdoor garden hose bibb and indoor cold faucets to drain remaining water out of the pipes, relieving hydraulic pressure from the leak.
3. Shut Off Water Heater Power
If your water supply is shut off, switch off the 240V water heater breaker or turn the gas valve to 'PILOT' to prevent dry-firing and melting heating elements.
